Ages: 4–10 Years
Week: July 13–17, 2026

In-person instructional summer camp for WKFA students and non-training family members and buddies! Choose morning-only or full-day camp.

Daily Events:

Each morning, campers will focus on different Kung-Fu skills through technical instruction, obstacle courses, games, crafts, and collaborative activities based on the daily themes, like Water and Ninjas!

In the afternoon, full-day campers will enjoy supervised, semi-structured play time including outdoor play, movies, activities, and more games.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made more than two months before camp are eligible for full refund of camp fee.

Two months before (May 13, 2026): Cancellations after this date will result in 50% of the camp fee refunded as tuition credit to the Waterloo Kung-Fu Academy, where applicable. The other 50% will be retained as a Cancellation Fee. If payment was not yet submitted, the 50% Cancellation Fee will still be charged.

Two weeks before (June 29, 2026): Cancellations after this date will result in complete forfeiture of camp fees; no refunds available.

Daily Events:

Junior summer camp is JAM-PACKED with fun. From interesting and practical self defence, to the…less practical, but really cool things you don’t get to do in class.

Attendees will do it all: gymnastics, board breaking, using weapons, building your own weapon (that you get to keep!), skill-building lessons from special guests, and skill-testing challenges.

Look out for returning favourites, like Water Day, fight scene choreography, the immersive puzzle-adventure game…and so much more!

  • Open to all ranks.

  • Contact is permitted.
  • Combat is not permitted.

Division Details

Each participant is eligible to compete in 4 of 6 divisions.

Divisions are separated by rank and age, as determined by number of participants.

  • Meet and compete with fellow WKFA students in a friendly, educational atmosphere.
  • Experience a traditional martial arts event based on courtesy and respect.
  • Allow family and friends to observe and support students.
  • Evaluate and improve your physical and psychological development.
  • Promote a sense of community.
  • Develop more spirit, poise and self-confidence.
  • Try out the sport aspect of martial arts.

Awards

Gold, Silver, and Bronze medallions will be awarded to the top 3 competitors in every division.

All participants receive a participant medallion.

We consider our in-house tournament an important part of our curriculum.

Regardless of belt level, we steadfastly train our Kung-Fu so that we can be our personal best. The tournament allows us as a Kung-Fu family to celebrate the effort we put in together by individually presenting our forms to the school and to the family and friends who join us.

While we do mark each student and award medals accordingly for those that place the highest, the real reward is knowing that you can perform your Kung-Fu individually and be recognized for the hard work you have put in.

Our sparring, horse and crane stance, and agile staff competitions offer another way that we can encourage each other to do well under pressure—a valuable lesson at any age!

Classes

  • 10 x 90-minute classes.
  • Hands-on Instruction from Sigung and a great team of experienced instructors.
  • All Classes will be geared to competition preparation.
  • We encourage you to choose one weapon form and one open hand form and spend the upcoming Competition Team classes refining elements of those particular forms.

  • All Youth, Junior, and Adult students (ages 6 and up) who spar are eligible to participate.

Shaolin Five Animal Kung-Fu: Each morning, campers will learn about one of the Five Kung-Fu Animals in our style—Tiger, Leopard, Snake, Crane, and Dragon—through technical instruction, obstacle courses, games, crafts, and collaborative activities!

Stay the full day for activity centres and more martial arts fun!

Craft: Related to the animal of the day.

Shaolin Five Animal Kung-Fu:

The Tiger teaches us strength.

The Snake teaches us suppleness and rhythmic endurance.
The Crane teaches us grace and fluidic harmony.
The Dragon teaches us to ride the wind.

I wanted to pass a thank-you onto your team who hosted the March Break camp for the kids. My sons both really enjoyed it, and came home every day excited. They woke up each morning excited to go back. They came home on Friday with giant paper dragons. They added more pieces to their dragons and also helped make one for their little sister! They are hanging proudly in our recroom.

I think the instructors did a really good job with them this week, and I felt it was important to let you all know. It’s not easy to both entertain and teach young kids for long stretches of time over the course of several days, but they did a wonderful job. Thank you!

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made more than one month before camp are eligible for full refund of camp fee.

One month before (February 16, 2026): Cancellations after this date will result in 50% of the camp fee refunded as tuition credit to the Waterloo Kung-Fu Academy, where applicable. The other 50% will be retained as a Cancellation Fee. If payment was not yet submitted, the 50% Cancellation Fee will still be charged.

One week before (March 9, 2026): Cancellations after this date will result in complete forfeiture of camp fees; no refunds available.
