Dr. Jopet Laraya is returning to the Waterloo Kung-Fu Academy to conduct another seminar on the Filipino martial art, Arnis (Stick Fighting). He is in town from Hong Kong for this special opportunity for you to experience this style. His background in Arnis is extensive, so you are getting very high quality instruction at an exceptional value!

In this comprehensive seminar, topics to be covered include:

  • Single Stick Attack and Defense
  • Stick and Dagger
  • Empty Hands

Special Demonstration: Pakua Chang

At the end of the seminar, there will be a special demonstration of the internal art of Pakua Chang by Dr. Joe’s teacher Sifu Lee How Chuen Patrick. He is in town from China and this is a very unique opportunity to be introduced to the internal art of Pakua.

Schedule

  • Kwoon opens at 8:30am: arrive early and warm-up
  • Part I: 9:00am – 11:50am
  • Lunch Break (food not supplied)
  • Part II: 1:20pm – 5:30pm
  • Pakua demonstration to follow

What to Bring

  • Two wooden sticks, approx.. 24 inches long; if you attended the 2013 seminar bring yours; otherwise, see Sifu for suggestions/options.
  • Uniform
  • A rubber dagger if you own one, otherwise WKFA will supply.
  • Weight training or cycling gloves (optional) to prevent blisters.
