After much deliberation and with a very heavy heart, at the suggestion of our health professionals, I am announcing the temporary closure of the Waterloo Kung-Fu Academy until at least April 5. This includes the grading and seminars.

Since opening in November of 1987, to my knowledge, this is the longest period of closure for our Academy.

I want to thank the community and all our incredible students and families for the show of love and support through everything. Please watch for opportunities to support local small businesses through this period – especially those in the service industry.

I especially want to thank my Leadership Team members and Instructors who have been an enormous source of strength and solidarity and continue to be – I’ve said it before and I’m saying it again, our Academy is truly blessed with the best team around.

As martial artists, quitting is not in our DNA – so a reminder that Kung-Fu can be practiced anywhere. Use this time to hone your skills and stay fit. We will come up with some creative ways to keep you inspired from a distance. Consider following us on Instagram, Twitter and join our Facebook Group page. Read old newsletter articles.

While I cannot predict the future, I will keep people as updated as I can with respect to our plans. Obviously, this situation is fluid, so it’s hard to provide answers, as much as people want them. All I can say is, this too shall pass. When it does, when it is safe, we will be back doing what we do, with more vigour than ever!
